When vastly different worlds collide...

A RICH FROST was inspired from my personal journey of finding a place of belonging. Having roots set in India but growing up in America I am in a constant struggle of finding a balance between both parts of me. This collection looks to merge both worlds into one and brings together design elements from both cultures using my memories of both geographic locations.

“Densely packed streets of India filled with rich pops of color, textures, and ornately decorated rickshaws as far as the eye can see”

In contrast to my memories of India, I remember my very first memories of America.

“Freshly fallen snow frosted on tangled branches amidst the ohio winter”

As both worlds correlate to my identity, A RICH FROST was a vision that came to life after identifying the similarities and differences amongst these two worlds. The "richness" was found in both the embellishment methods of India and the entangled branches of Ohio. The differences amongst the two were apparent in the absence of color in the American scape which led to the vision of an intricate frost (absence/subdued color palette). Keeping with the organic feel of tree branches the textiles for this collection were cotton rope and recycled fabrics to play upon the densely packed textures and intricate yet abstract designs which bring this concept to life.
